Saudi Arabia is inviting wealthy travellers to explore its desert landscapes in a rather different way, with reservations officially opening for Dream of the Desert, an ultra-luxury train experience set to begin commercial operations in October 2027.
Unveiled at World Travel Market London, the project will offer international travellers a new way to discover the Kingdom’s northern regions, combining five-star hospitality, fine dining and exclusive cultural experiences aboard what is being billed as the world’s first ultra-luxury desert train journey.
Departing from Riyadh, Dream of the Desert will travel through some of Saudi Arabia’s less-explored destinations, including Al Jouf, Hail and Al Qassim, taking passengers through dramatic mountain scenery, vast desert landscapes and historic settlements.
International boost
Ageel Al-Shaibani, CEO of the Saudi Tourism Authority, said the launch represented another milestone in the country’s efforts to develop its international tourism offering.
